Clinical notes are often dictated by the doctor and entered by a
transcriptionist. The Clinical Mailbox permits the doctor to review and
approve notes with a minimal amount of effort and without ever printing
them. Some doctors prefer to enter their own SOAP notes by either typing or
using our Quik-Note generator. Other practitioners use voice recognition
software which works with The Physician’s Paperless Office, while others
still hand-write their notes and just scan them. Within a large practice
each doctor can choose his or her own technique.
Nurses, PA’s or other
office personnel may enter test results, phone notes and medication notes
here as well (medications not entered through the prescription system such
as OTC drugs or those prescribed by another doctor outside of the practice).
These notes can be viewed from the Patient Information screen or from the
Office and Non-Office Billing screens but are entered here. From the Main
Menu select Progress Notes.
As with the other screens, the person using this screen can access
scanned documents, the Patient Information Screen, or generate a
prescription. For doctors that choose to enter their own information, this
is handy, because all information is one button away.

Spell check or search for any word in either this patient or all notes.
Referral letters, with notes attached, are generated from here. Notes can be
faxed, emailed or printed. Transcriptionists or services use this screen
most often. Support staff uses it to enter phone call information as well.
Have you ever mis-filed a note, then tried to find it? With virtually
hundreds of thousands of patient notes managed by this system since 1995
when it was first installed, we have never had a mis-filed note (which is
hard to do) that could not be found in under a minute!
